Quality
We believe that the pursuit of quality improvement in all our activities is essential to our continued success and profitable growth.
People
We will encourage and develop our people so that they have the diverse tools and skills needed to provide the quality link between our suppliers, processes and customers.
We will consistently meet the understood and anticipated needs and expectations of our customers.
As our own needs and expectations continue to evolve we will define and communicate our current needs and anticipated future requirements such that they can be satisfied by our suppliers.
Processes
By continually improving the safety, reliability and productivity of our processes, we will provide products and services that generate value to our shareholders, customers and benefit the wider community.
Philippe Etienne, Division General Manager
Quality is one of the things that we do best at Orica ChlorAlkali. As a scientific organisation, Orica's history is based on analytical strengths including product testing and process control. Quality processes, systems and continuous improvement are basic building blocks of the Orica Business Improvement Process, the philosophy that is now helping drive the company towards best practice.
We are very serious about quality at Orica. We have achieved outstanding results in ISO9000 Certification programs including over seventy certifications in Orica Australia alone. And we don't just certify our manufacturing facilities. Our corporate and business service groups such as sales, finance and information technology are also put through the ISO certification process.
Our quality systems use the latest technology. We have designed and built special document management systems to help us with quality management and to give us access to information world-wide. Other organisations have looked to Orica ChlorAlkali for best practice when setting up their own quality systems. These include Sydney Water, Mars, Bonlac and Abbott Chemicals.
Orica has been heavily involved in the Australian Quality Awards (AQA) program through our own business excellence framework modelled on the AQA template. Currently we have several people in Orica who have been members of AQA evaluation panels. This is an impressive recognition of our commitment to quality within the company.
What does this mean to our customers/suppliers?
Most importantly, it means that all of these systems, processes and expertise will be applied to our business partnerships. It also means that, as our business partners, customers/suppliers will have access to world class advice for quality in implementing and improving their own quality programs.
